Max Krüger

Max Krüger (@krgermax) co-founded ThingsCon. He’s a researcher for Human Computer Interaction at the University of Siegen. Max started a Makerspace in Pakistan (certainly not alone), and works for the Global Innovation Gathering, a network of great people and community spaces all over the globe. Sometime he takes pictures, or plays music for people. 

Lorna Goulden

After a morning of sharing and discussion on IoT product innovation, from user engagement and design research, to service development and prototyping of responsible IoT ideas. Lorna Goulden proposes to take these IoT product cases as a starting point for a hands-on workshop with constructive-critical discussion on the challenges of building a viable and responsible IoT business case.

Lorna has 20+ years’ experience working across a wide range of industries from smart city developments in Eindhoven, Amsterdam and Barcelona to customer-centric strategies and technology-impact innovations for companies such as ASML, Cisco, DAF-trucks, Deutsche Telekom, NXP, Philips and Ziggo. She has written and spoken extensively about the Internet of Things and Smart Cities with a particular focus on the role of people and the impact on society. She organizes the Eindhoven Internet of Things Meetup community (1500+members) in the Netherlands and initiated the Eindhoven The Things Network community, joining a global initiative that is building citywide community-owned LoraWAN IoT urban data networks.

Kliment Yanev

Kliment is an electronics and robotics developer with extensive experience in the field of open source 3d printing and open hardware. He does custom electronics development, taking projects from idea to prototype (ask if you need something made). Open source work in the field of 3d printing (electronics, software and mechanical work) and medical hardware.

Lily Higgins

Lily is host of How do we shape the future of human and non-human relationships in public space? (unconference track)

Lily is a future-oriented designer of experiences, processes, tools, and methods. She operates as an independent consultant at the intersection of strategic foresight, human-centered design, and serious play. Her current work and practice is informed by her recent thesis, “Future Flex: A Play-Based Approach to Organizational Change in the Age of Uncertainty” which was nominated for Willem de Kooning Academy’s Bachelor Research Prize 2017.

Lily currently collaborates with Changeist as an associate designer, Playspace as a play-experience designer, and various other clients from corporates to local initiatives. She is a trainee at the European School for Urban Game Design and the founder of Urban Playwalks Rotterdam, a monthly walking tour of site-specific urban games that play with the norms of public space. She loves talking situationist urban interventions, mundane futures, and applications of immersive theatre.

Jens Ewald

Jens is an OpenDoTT and Mozilla fellow currently pursuing a joint PhD at The University of Dundee and Mozilla Foundation. His research focuses on the relationship of the self and connected wearable objects to explore alternative narratives for a healthy, open, and trustworthy Internet of Things reflecting on a decentralised human future.Before joining OpenDoTT, Jens has worked as an independent developer in the arts and design and a long term faculty Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design (Kiel DE) exploring digital matter(s) with art and design students. With a background in philosophy and design, his interest in programming languages, computational machineries and the relationship of coded systems to art and design practice has led to a diverse involvement in many disciplines. He graduated with a diploma in communication design from Muthesius specialising in digital media / intermedia with a study on experimental structural film through code. His love of sharing knowledge led to teaching workshops on physical computing and creative programming as a visiting lecturer in Germany and India, and facilitating workshops at media art festivals in Europe. His continuous involvement within the arts as part of the internationally performing and exhibiting sound art collective Staalplaat Soundsystem looks back on an over a decade of exploration in hardware and software for sound art installations in various environments. He has helped to turn train stations in the Hague, auto rickshaws in New Delhi, cars in Berlin, trees in Belgium, and various everyday objects into poetic sound structures.

Iskander Smit

Iskander Smit (@iskandr) is chairman of the foundation ThingsCon Amsterdam. He is innovation director at agency INFO in Amsterdam, that crafts connected digital products and services. Iskander is responsible for research and development and leading LABS.

Next to that Iskander is visiting professor at Delft University of Technology faculty of Industrial Design researching Cities of Things.
Since 2010 Iskander is a member of the Council Internet of Things and co-founded the Behavior Design AMS meetup in 2013.
